My name is Luke Longnecker and I have been a motorsports enthusiast since the late 1990s. I started attending track days in college and I became a professional wedding and event photographer in 2013. Blending the two passions together (cars and cameras) was a natural decision that has taken me all over the world.
When I'm not holding a camera, I can often be found at one the regional karting tracks in the Pacific Northwest or hiking with my delightful family.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Which forms of motorsport are you most passionate about?
A: Endurance racing and rally events are my two favorites to cover, but historic racing has definitely been gaining ground in the past few years.
Q: How would you describe your approach to motorsports photography?
A: Coming from the world of wedding photography, my head is always on a swivel for interesting moments. Sometimes the best opportunities are behind you and I can easily pre-visualize an image long before I've gotten in place to capture it.
Q: What can clients expect from you?
A: In a word, professionalism. Whether that's clear communication before an event, quick turnaround times afterwards, or beautiful imagery throughout, nobody is going to be disappointed with my work.
Q: What kind of gear do you shoot with?
A: To maximize versatility, I often carry two camera bodies with wildly different lenses. Canon is my preferred brand and I don't baby my gear. At the end of the day, even the nicest hardware is just a tool to be used. I'm perfectly comfortable standing in a rainstorm or setting up a remote camera in the no-go sections of a rally stage. I'm also covered by a professional insurance policy should anything go wrong.
